Welcome to our latest Curiouz Conversation, where we spotlight the stories behind our sellers. This time, we sit down with Wintage to explore their journey from discovering design gems in unexpected places to building a vintage business fueled by passion, bold style, and a love for pieces with character and soul.

What’s your usual breakfast (or favorite morning ritual)?

Oatmeal with banana and almond milk – simple, healthy, and enough energy to kickstart my day.

What’s a song or band you’ve been listening to a lot lately?

“Time” by Don Carlos

If you could time-travel to any decade just to shop for vintage, which would it be?

Definitely the ’60s and ’70s. Italian design, space age, brutalism… that’s my vibe: bold, colorful, and full of amazing shapes.

What’s the most unusual or funny place you’ve found a vintage piece?

On an industrial estate in Amsterdam, someone saw my van and asked, “Do you want to buy a sofa?” That became my first Togo for a bargain price – totally unexpected but unforgettable.

What’s your favorite vintage piece of all time?

The Dune sofa by Pierre Paulin – ultimate chill. Comfort and design all in one.

How did you first get into selling vintage?

During COVID, I had some free time. I was still working in the events industry back then, and suddenly thought: why not start dealing in vintage furniture?

What’s your favorite piece you’ve ever sold and why?

A glass design chair from a Dutch glass company. No brand, but it was given to employees when they retired. Stories like that make a piece unique and memorable. Plus, the design itself is just amazing.

How do you decide which items make it into your shop?

If I like it, I buy it. I do keep an eye on trends, but my gut feeling always comes first.

What does “vintage” mean to you personally?

Vintage is all about character, stories, and craftsmanship – pieces with a soul you just don’t find in new furniture.

If you weren’t selling vintage, what do you think you’d be doing instead?

Probably still in the events industry as account manager and producer, organizing, creating, and making things.

Since we’re Curiouz… What’s something you’ve always been curious to try, but haven’t (yet)?

Designing and making my own piece of furniture – from sketch to finished product.
