The VIP coat rack by Paolo Orlandini and Roberto Lucci for Velca, designed in the 1970s, is an iconic example of Italian Space Age design. Crafted from ABS plastic and chrome, the piece features a modular column composed of three interlocking sections, allowing adjustable height and easy transport. The design includes rotating hooks and integrated umbrella storage within a weighted base, ensuring stability and everyday functionality. The combination of smooth plastic surfaces and polished metal reflects the experimental material approach of the era. The piece shows light signs of age such as minor surface wear consistent with vintage use, while remaining structurally sound and fully functional. A sculptural and practical design object that enhances both modern and vintage interiors.
