Striking tessellated stone coffee table produced by Maitland Smith during the 1970s, showcasing the brand’s renowned craftsmanship and refined use of natural materials. The table features a geometric structure fully clad in carefully cut black stone pieces arranged in a tessellated pattern, creating a rich surface with subtle tonal variation and texture. Maitland Smith became internationally recognized for combining traditional artisanal techniques with luxurious decorative design, often incorporating stone, shell, and other natural materials. The deep black stone gives the piece a sophisticated architectural presence while maintaining a clean and balanced silhouette. Both sculptural and functional, the table works beautifully as a centerpiece in a living room, adding depth, material richness, and timeless vintage character to modern or classic interiors.
