The Pellicano sideboard was designed by Vittorio Introini for Saporiti around 1960 and stands as a refined and iconic example of mid 20th century Italian design. Conceived with rigorous planning and exceptional craftsmanship, the piece achieves a rare balance between functionality and sculptural elegance. Crafted in rosewood veneer, the surface reveals deep and warm grain patterns that are used as a natural decorative element, enhancing the visual richness of the design.
The structure is thoughtfully composed, combining hinged doors, drawers, open compartments, and an upper display cabinet. This multifunctional layout reflects the needs of bourgeois living interiors of the 1960s, offering both practical storage and refined presentation. Subtle metal details such as shaped handles, exposed hinges, and small chromed elements introduce contrast and underline the precision of the construction.
Defined by clean lines, carefully studied proportions, and a dynamic composition, the Pellicano sideboard embodies Introini’s vision of storage furniture as an architectural component of modern living. Today, it is highly valued by collectors and galleries for its material quality, design complexity, and timeless Italian elegance.
