This vintage set of four Italian dining chairs by Gessef Consorzio Sedie Friuli reflects the elegant simplicity and lightweight construction of Mid-Century Modern Italian design. Inspired by Gio Ponti's iconic Superleggera chair for Cassina, the chairs feature slender wooden frames, delicate proportions and backrests with three horizontal slats, creating an airy, minimalist silhouette. Their exceptionally lightweight construction allows for easy movement while maintaining functional stability at the joints. The woven seats feature traditional natural materials, with papercord and seagrass variations across the two available sets, offering complementary tones and textures. Another set of four Gessef chairs is available separately, allowing a coordinated group of eight, although the two sets have subtle differences in overall height and backrest detailing. The chairs remain in usable vintage condition, with visible wear to the woven seating, including a few loose or detached cords, as documented in the photographs. This does not currently affect seating comfort or structural functionality. Due to their delicate construction, slight movement may be noticeable when leaning back or rocking, and excessive force should be avoided. Their characteristically low seat height makes them particularly suitable for lower dining or kitchen tables, while optional furniture glides may help adjust their height. A charming example of Italian mid-century craftsmanship, ideal for vintage-inspired, Scandinavian and contemporary interiors.
