This elegant pair of wall sconces, model 9459, was designed in the 1950s by the legendary Finnish designer Paavo Tynell for Idman Oy. Refined and understated, the design captures Tynell’s unmistakable ability to merge poetic light with architectural clarity. The sconces offer a soft, inviting glow, making them ideal for use beside a bed, behind a sofa, or as ambient lighting in a living space. Rooted in the golden age of Scandinavian modernism, these pieces reflect a minimalist yet expressive approach, where proportion, material, and light are carefully balanced. Their restrained elegance allows them to integrate seamlessly into both classic mid-century interiors and contemporary homes seeking authentic vintage character. Produced in Finland and offered in vintage condition consistent with age, the sconces retain their original charm and craftsmanship, with gentle signs of use that enhance their authenticity. A highly collectible set, they represent a timeless expression of Nordic lighting design and Paavo Tynell’s enduring legacy.
