This distinctive pair of TV lounge chairs was designed by Miroslav Navrátil for Český Nábytek in former Czechoslovakia, circa 1959. Associated with Navrátil's award-winning seating presented around the XII Triennale di Milano in 1960, the design reflects post-war Czechoslovak experimentation with new materials and forms. Each chair features a strongly curved fiberglass shell with pronounced upturned sides, supported by tapered wooden legs and slender crossed metal braces. Both chairs have been professionally reupholstered in textured green-blue fabric. The original fiberglass remains exposed at the rear, with one shell in grey and the other in yellow.
