This elegant pair of Chinese high backed armchairs, crafted around 1920, reflects the timeless sophistication of classic Ming Dynasty design. Characterized by their slender upright proportions and harmoniously balanced lines, the chairs embody the precision and restraint valued in traditional Chinese craftsmanship. The high gently curved backrests create a refined silhouette while offering comfortable support. Curved armrests, stabilizing stretchers and finely executed joinery highlight the quality of construction. The inset seats are woven in sturdy rope, adding texture and durability. Crafted from solid elm, the wood displays a warm deep patina developed over time, enhancing its authenticity and character. Both sculptural and functional, this pair represents early 20th century craftsmanship rooted in centuries old design tradition, ideal for refined and collected interiors.
