This elegant pair of early 20th-century armchairs was designed by Josef Hoffmann and manufactured by Jacob & Josef Kohn around 1910. A variation of Hoffmann's 720 Half-Barrel Settee design, the chairs embody the refined geometry and exceptional craftsmanship of the Jugendstil period. Gently curved backrests wrap around the sitter, while integrated armrests and sprung seats provide generous comfort within a sophisticated, understated silhouette. Both chairs remain structurally solid, with no significant visible repairs. The wooden frames have been carefully cleaned and treated with a light clear oil to preserve and enhance their beautiful period patina. The existing upholstery requires replacement, offering the opportunity to select a textile that complements their historic character. Reupholstery can also be arranged upon request. Rich in detail without appearing overly decorative, this rare pair represents the elegance of Josef Hoffmann's Viennese design language and the celebrated craftsmanship of Jacob & Josef Kohn.
