This exceptional matched pair of Danish Mid-Century Modern rosewood sideboards, designed by Poul Hundevad, combines refined Scandinavian craftsmanship with practical storage and beautifully preserved vintage character. Originally purchased together and kept in the same home for several decades by a single owner, the two low cabinets share a distinctive provenance and remarkably consistent appearance. Their richly figured rosewood surfaces display deep, expressive grain patterns and warm natural tones, complemented by a unique symmetrical band of sun fading across each top, developed where shelving once protected the wood from light. Each sideboard features lockable doors opening to reveal adjustable internal shelves and light birch storage trays, creating an elegant contrast with the darker rosewood exterior. During careful restoration, the original skirting bases were replaced with solid teak legs featuring a subtly tapered cylindrical shape, mounted using the existing bolt fittings and dark-stained to complement the cabinets. The elevated silhouette gives both pieces a lighter, more contemporary appearance while preserving their original character. The sideboards have been gently cleaned and oiled to enhance the natural beauty of the wood and remain in excellent vintage condition, with minor surface marks and sun-related colour variations documented in the photographs. Ideal for a living room, dining room or sophisticated contemporary interior, this rare matching pair offers generous storage and timeless Danish design.
