The Charlottenborg PH 5-4½ pendant lamp is an important example of Danish lighting design, based on Poul Henningsen's original 1930s concept. The Charlottenborg was redesigned by Sophus Frandsen and Ebbe Christensen in 1979 for the Charlottenborg exhibition hall in Copenhagen, with this smaller 5-4½ version created in 1984 for the concert hall in Aarhus. Its distinctive four-shade system increases horizontal light distribution, providing effective illumination of surrounding walls and surfaces while maintaining Henningsen's glare-reducing principles. The lamp measures 47 cm in diameter and 32 cm high. It is in very good vintage condition with normal signs of age and use. Thoroughly cleaned, tested and fitted with a new braided cable. A new metal ceiling canopy is included.
