This sculptural Italian Postmodern table lamp, handmade by Tuscan artisan Marco Ricciardi in the 1980s, transforms a broken egg into a playful work of functional art. Carved from natural alabaster, the oversized composition features two irregular white shell halves, a hand-painted orange yolk and a flowing cream-toned base representing spilled egg white. One shell conceals the light fitting and serves as a translucent shade, revealing the alabaster's natural veining while casting a warm, diffused glow. Measuring 64 cm across, the lamp combines exaggerated proportions, fluid contours and trompe-l'œil detailing characteristic of Italian Postmodern design. The piece retains its original workshop label and the artist's signature, supporting its provenance. A distinctive statement lamp for contemporary, eclectic or design-focused interiors.
