This Breda lounge chair was designed by French designer Pierre Guariche and produced by Meurop in Belgium during the 1960s. A refined example of post-war modernist seating, the chair is defined by clean lines, balanced proportions and an absence of unnecessary decorative details. Its visually light construction and slightly reclined backrest create a relaxed, inviting silhouette while preserving the functional clarity characteristic of Guariche's work. After designing furniture for manufacturers including Steiner and Airborne, Guariche began collaborating with Meurop in 1957 and later became its creative director, bringing his modern French design language to Belgian production. The Breda is a distinctive example of this period, combining simplicity, comfort and understated character.
