This monumental antique daybed from the Rajasthan region of India dates to the 19th century and is crafted from solid tropical hardwood. Defined by its strong architectural character, the piece features a substantial rectangular platform framed by a raised edge with pronounced corner elements. It stands on four robust turned legs that provide both stability and sculptural presence. Over time, the wood has developed a rich patina with tonal variation and depth, highlighting the natural aging process and craftsmanship. The surface reflects a quiet wabi sabi sensibility, celebrating irregularities, softened contours and visible grain patterns. Its low grounded proportions create a calm and contemplative atmosphere, making it suitable as a daybed, platform bench or monumental coffee table. It remains in very good antique condition with wear consistent with age and use.
