This Medea side chair designed by Vittorio Nobili embodies the elegant organic language of Mid-Century Modern Italian design from 1955. Originally created for manufacturer Fratelli Tagliabue and first published in Domus in April 1955, the Medea line remains a touchstone of post-war European furniture innovation. Crafted from a sculptural shell of dark exotic hardwood, the chair’s graceful, continuous curves reflect Nobili’s mastery of molded wood technique, offering both visual lightness and ergonomic comfort. Supported by slender metal legs, the piece harmonizes natural warmth with refined structural detail. Its form is both timeless and expressive, making it suitable for dining, study, or standout accent seating in curated interiors. Fully restored, this example presents rich grain and depth of finish, with wear consistent with age and professional restoration — preserving the character and authenticity of its historic Italian manufacture.
