The Markerad mirror by Virgil Abloh for IKEA, released in the limited 2019 collection, showcases the late designer’s talent for elevating everyday objects into cultural statements. Its minimalist rectangular shape is interrupted by a diagonal “crack” motif—an intentional visual disruption that questions perfection and embraces Abloh’s signature concept of the “twist on the ordinary.” Blending street culture, irony, and contemporary design language, the mirror functions both as a practical household object and as a subtle commentary on modern aesthetics. A sought-after collectible, the Markerad mirror reflects Abloh’s lasting impact on design and visual culture.
