An iconic Maralunga three-seater sofa designed by Vico Magistretti for Cassina in 1973, celebrated as a landmark of modern Italian furniture design. The Maralunga revolutionised upholstered seating through its innovative adjustable backrest mechanism, allowing each section to transition between a relaxed, high-backed position and a lower, more formal silhouette. This example is particularly distinctive for its original striped upholstery, combining soft pastel tones in a playful, Paul Smith-like palette. Generous cushioning and beautifully balanced proportions deliver the exceptional comfort for which the model is renowned, while the colourful textile gives this classic design an expressive character. Preserved in mint condition after years in storage, the sofa shows no stains or damage and presents remarkably close to new. A highly desirable combination of original upholstery, exceptional preservation and one of Cassina’s most celebrated Italian design classics.
