This striking lounge chair was manufactured by the Swedish company Diö Slöjd and Möbler during the 1950s and stands out as a true eye catcher of Scandinavian mid century design. The chair features a beautifully exposed black lacquered wooden frame, deliberately left visible to highlight the structure, much like architectural beams showcased in modernist interiors. This design choice gives the chair a strong and confident visual presence while celebrating craftsmanship and construction.
The seat is upholstered in an orange bouclé fabric that has aged gracefully and is likely original. Aside from light wear consistent with age and use, the upholstery remains in good condition with no notable defects. The reclined backrest and generous proportions offer exceptional comfort, encouraging a relaxed and informal seating position. Both sculptural and inviting, this lounge chair embodies the Scandinavian ideal of combining aesthetics, comfort, and functionality. A rare and expressive piece from 1950s Sweden that works equally well as a statement object or a comfortable everyday seat.
