This vintage Serpente model 599 table lamp was designed by Elio Martinelli for Martinelli Luce in 1965 and produced in Italy during the 1970s. An icon of Italian Space Age lighting, it combines a circular chrome-plated metal base with a sweeping curved arm and large opal white methacrylate diffuser. The rotating construction allows the diffuser to pivot around its central axis, changing both the silhouette and direction of light. When illuminated, the dome produces a soft, even glow. The original Martinelli Luce label marked "Mod. 599" remains present. Good vintage condition with scratches and light discoloration to the diffuser, plus patina, scratches, minor oxidation and spotting to the chrome consistent with age and use.
