This lounge chair is an authentic example of Danish modern furniture designed by Hans J. Wegner and produced by Getama in Denmark during the 1960s, a period widely regarded as the golden age of Scandinavian design. The piece reflects Wegner’s core design philosophy of honest construction, comfort-driven form, and refined craftsmanship, where structure and ergonomics are seamlessly integrated. Getama, one of Wegner’s most important collaborators, was responsible for manufacturing many of his most iconic seating designs and is renowned for exceptional joinery, precise proportions, and lasting build quality. These qualities are clearly present in this chair, which balances sculptural presence with everyday usability. Its relaxed profile and generous seating make it suitable for both residential interiors and curated design collections. Preserved in good vintage condition, the chair shows age-appropriate wear consistent with careful use, reinforcing its authenticity. A timeless piece, it stands as a strong representation of Wegner’s legacy and Denmark’s enduring influence on modern furniture design.
