Custom Made Brutalist Closet in Pine by Dom Hans van der Laan, Netherlands 1970s
SAFE PAYMENTS
Custom-made Brutalist closet in pine by Dutch designer Dom Hans van der Laan from the 1970s, fully crafted in the spirit of the Bossche School. Based on the “plastic number,” a proportional system rooted in human spatial perception, the cabinet reflects van der Laan’s signature approach to form and harmony. The doors close seamlessly on magnetic strips and feature two proportionally scaled round handles. Eight rows of copper nails on the doors and sides serve both as ornamentation and architectural expression. The interior, lined in pine veneer, offers four levels of storage. The outer parts are notably thick, emphasizing structure and proportion. With minimal signs of wear. Only slight discoloration and base stains. The piece remains in very good condition. Provenance: from a house in Veghel, Netherlands, designed by van der Laan himself, where several of his furniture designs were present.
