This Amsterdamse Pole floor lamps, produced in the 1990s for de Bijenkorf, represents a distinctive chapter in Dutch contemporary lighting design. Crafted from metal and finished in a bold pink hue, these lamps combine architectural restraint with expressive color, reflecting the confident design language of late-20th-century Netherlands. Designed for de Bijenkorf, one of the Netherlands’ most iconic and design-forward department stores, the Amsterdamse Pole model was conceived to function as both practical illumination and visual statement. Its slender vertical form emphasizes height and rhythm, while the vivid finish adds a playful yet controlled accent suited to modern interiors. Made in the Netherlands, these lamps embody a postmodern approach where minimal structure is paired with strong chromatic identity. They remain in good original condition, showing visible signs of age and use consistent with their period, which contribute to their authenticity without detracting from their impact. As lighting objects with a direct connection to de Bijenkorf’s design legacy, this pair offers collectors a rare and characterful example of Dutch 1990s design that balances function, color, and architectural clarity.
