This Artona Africa Series sideboard was designed by Afra & Tobia Scarpa for Maxalto, the luxury division of B&B Italia, during the 1970s. A landmark of Italian postwar design, the sideboard features the collection's signature bridge-like construction, strong horizontality and sculptural architectural presence. Crafted from a sophisticated combination of burlwood, walnut, ebony and leather, its high-gloss lacquered top and sides highlight the depth and natural pattern of the burl veneer, while leather-clad doors introduce a warm textural contrast. Structural side panels elevate the long storage volume, creating a distinctive floating effect. Generous concealed compartments provide practical storage while preserving the purity of the exterior. Very good vintage condition with minor age-appropriate wear.
