This elegant 19th-century Danish secretary desk, also known as an escritoire, showcases Victorian craftsmanship with richly figured burr wood veneer and a warm, lustrous finish. The substantial drop-down writing surface is supported by a sturdy metal frame and opens to reveal finely inlaid interior drawers and practical storage compartments. The writing surface sits 84 cm above the floor. Constructed in three detachable sections, the top, central cabinet and legged base can be separated without tools for easier transport. The desk retains two keys: one operates the drop-down section's lock, while the other opens the drawers but does not lock them. The small cabinet door can also be opened with its key, although its lock is not functional. Exceptionally sturdy and stable, this antique Danish escritoire remains in excellent condition, with only minor age-related blemishes. A distinctive statement piece for traditional, eclectic or contemporary interiors.
