This imposing Danish ceremonial armchair dates from the late 19th century and reflects Italian and French influences in its richly detailed construction. Crafted from solid oak, the throne-like frame features a tall angled back, generous seat and elongated armrests carved with acanthus leaves, scrolling motifs and prominent volutes. Baluster-and-block turned legs are joined by H-shaped stretchers, giving the chair both architectural presence and structural stability. The seat and back are upholstered in red damask or brocade with a golden star-shaped pattern, finished with decorative brass nailhead trim. The oak frame remains firm and solid, while the original-style upholstery shows noticeable wear, fading and uneven coloration consistent with age. The chair remains usable in its current condition, although reupholstery is recommended for long-term use.
