A distinctive ceramic vase by Nereo Boaretto, created in 1972 and defined by its bold sculptural form and restrained dark grey finish. The vessel has an unusual lenticular silhouette, with a narrow opening and a pronounced concave indentation that transforms the traditional vase into an expressive three-dimensional object. Its carefully controlled geometry is balanced by an almost primitive quality, reflecting Boaretto’s ability to combine precise craftsmanship with tactile, elemental forms. The monochromatic dark grey ceramic surface further emphasizes the contours, shadows and changing volumes of the piece, allowing its appearance to shift according to the viewing angle and surrounding light. Both functional and sculptural, the vase works beautifully as a standalone ceramic artwork or as part of a curated collection. A striking example of 1970s Italian studio ceramics, bringing together geometric abstraction, artisanal craftsmanship and a strong architectural presence.
