The Obra bookshelf was designed by Janet Schwietzer in the 1990s and is a striking example of modern American design that balances industrial materials with bold color. Constructed from red lacquered steel and glass, the shelving unit features a clean, architectural framework that emphasizes both structure and transparency. Its open composition allows books and objects to appear visually light, while the vibrant red finish adds a strong graphic presence to any interior. Designed to function as both storage and sculptural statement, the Obra bookshelf works equally well in contemporary living spaces, offices, or creative environments. The piece remains in good vintage condition with light signs of age and wear consistent with careful use, preserving its crisp modern character. A distinctive and collectible design that reflects the experimental spirit of late 20th century furniture.
