The Model GE 2 Hammock Chair by Getama, manufactured in Gedsted between 1960 and 1970 and presented at the Scandinavian Furniture Fair in Malmö in 1967, is a striking example of Danish modern experimentation in seating. Crafted with a solid oak frame, the chaise longue features a suspended seat and back woven in flag halyard with refined brass fittings, creating a distinctive hammock like construction that offers both flexibility and ergonomic comfort. The sculptural oak structure highlights clean lines and balanced proportions, while the tensioned halyard provides breathable support and visual lightness. Documented in Noritsugu Oda’s Danish Chairs and featured in Mobilia no. 143 from 1967, this model represents an innovative chapter in Scandinavian design history, combining craftsmanship, functionality and architectural clarity.
