This exceptional Art Nouveau table lamp combines a signed, silvered bronze base by French designer Paul Follot with a vivid orange Loetz glass shade and a rare engraved dedication to Art Deco designer Jean Fauré. The sculptural base is cast as a stylised organic flower with softly modelled petals and a fluted stem – typical of Follot’s early work for the Parisian gallery La Maison Moderne, for which he designed luxurious metalwork and lighting around 1901–1904. On the upper side of the base the relief signature “P. Follot” is clearly visible, while the underside bears several foundry marks and the hand‑engraved inscription “Jean Faure”, most likely a dedication or ownership mark linking the lamp to the later Art Deco decorator known for his amboyna and Macassar furniture.
Only the srew which holds the shade has been replaced, as the old one couldn´t hold the shade any longer.
The tall, elegant stem supports a tulip‑shaped Loetz glass shade from the early 20th century in a strong orange tone, whose slightly opaline, hand‑formed surface produces a warm, atmospheric light. Loetz, the renowned Bohemian glassworks Johann Loetz‑Witwe, supplied leading European designers with art glass shades of this type, which are highly sought after today for their quality and sculptural presence. The combination of a signed Paul Follot bronze base with an original Loetz shade clearly places this lamp in the upper segment of Art Nouveau lighting and offers collectors a documented dialogue between French decorative art and Central European glassmaking.
Dating from the early 1900s, the lamp illustrates Follot’s transition from flowing Art Nouveau towards the calmer, more structured elegance that would later define his Art Deco interiors for Pomone and other prestigious clients. The finely executed modelling of the petals, the discreet silvered finish with historic patina and the slender proportions all reflect his pursuit of “calm architectures” and luxurious, carefully crafted materials. At the same time, the engraved Jean Fauré inscription adds another layer of provenance and narrative, connecting the piece to a decorator whose documented Art Deco furniture is highly prized on today’s market.
For collectors, interior designers and museums, this lamp offers a rare opportunity to acquire a signed Art Nouveau light by Paul Follot with high‑quality Loetz glass and a fascinating reference to Jean Fauré – ideal as a focal point on a sideboard, writing desk or pedestal.
