This original Wassily Chair, model B3, designed by Marcel Breuer in 1925–26 and produced by Gavina in Italy during the 1960s, is a true icon of 20th-century modernist design and a highly collectible Bauhaus masterpiece. Defined by its revolutionary tubular steel frame and radically minimal construction, the chair embodies Breuer’s vision of functional elegance and industrial clarity. Inspired by bicycle frame technology, the design broke with traditional furniture-making and became one of the most influential seating designs ever created. This example was manufactured by Gavina prior to its acquisition by Knoll in 1968, making it an earlier and more desirable production compared to later editions. Sculptural yet practical, the Wassily Chair works equally well in modern living spaces, offices, or curated gallery settings. More than a piece of furniture, it stands as a defining statement of Bauhaus ideology, design innovation, and architectural thinking translated into form.
