Rare “Gobi” low table from the Broomstick series, designed by Vico Magistretti for Alias, Italy, early 1980s. Conceived in 1979 during Magistretti’s period in London, the Broomstick collection explored essential forms inspired by the simplicity and structural clarity of the everyday broom, a concept famously named by George Nelson. This scarce model features a black-lacquered walnut base, composed of cylindrical structural elements, and a large white laminated top that creates a strong graphic contrast. With its generous 128 × 128 cm surface and low 45 cm height, the table has a calm architectural presence, suitable for living rooms, studios, or gallery contexts. A short-run production now discontinued, the piece is hard to find on the secondary market. This example comes from old stock from a furniture shop in Bologna and shows light, honest patina consistent with age.
