This curule style stool from 1940s Mexico reflects the strong character of Spanish Colonial Revival design, inspired by historic viceroyalty furniture of the 16th and 17th centuries. Crafted from solid wood, the structure features a classic arched X frame with horizontal stretchers, combining stability with sculptural form. The seat is made of thick stretched leather, secured with hand forged iron hardware and decorative nailheads, adding to its authentic craftsmanship. The leather shows pronounced patina, including craquelure, tonal variation and surface wear consistent with age, giving the piece a rich and textured appearance. Both functional and decorative, this stool brings historical depth and rustic elegance to interiors, ideal as seating or an accent piece.
