This rare sofa was produced by MIM Roma (Mobili Italiana Moderne) in Italy and belongs to the earliest phase of the company’s production following its founding in 1958 by Ennio Faziola. Conceived as part of MiM’s vision to integrate design, craftsmanship, and modern industrial techniques, the sofa was designed for both domestic and office environments, reflecting the flexible, forward-looking spirit of Italian modernism. This first-production example is distinguished by its dark grey lacquered metal base—later versions were chromed—and solid aluminium detailing, underscoring the emphasis on new materials and technical innovation. The sofa has been fully restored by Troon Works and reupholstered in high-quality semi-aniline leather, offering a refined appearance combined with excellent durability. The foam and straps have been replaced to ensure outstanding comfort, while the metal and aluminium elements retain a light patina and signs of use consistent with age, preserving the piece’s authenticity. A rare and architecturally strong Italian modern sofa with both historical significance and contemporary usability.
