This Siesta 62 lounge chair with matching ottoman is an iconic example of German Mid-Century Modern design from the early 1960s. Designed by Jacques Brule for Hans Kaufeld, the chair embodies the era’s confidence in form, scale, and comfort. Upholstered in classic black leather, the chair has developed an attractive natural patina over time, lending it depth and a distinguished presence. The leather on the backrest and armrests shows light, honest signs of wear consistent with age, enhancing its authenticity. The chair swivels smoothly on a solid, heavy, gently tulip-shaped base, providing both stability and functionality. Down-filled cushions ensure excellent seating comfort, making the chair as inviting as it is visually striking. The generous proportions and bold angles remain impressive today, reinforcing the Siesta 62’s reputation as one of the most compelling lounge chairs of the 1960s. Hans Kaufeld, whose company supplied high-quality furniture including pieces for the German Federal Chancellery, collaborated with Jacques Brule to create a chair that continues to resonate with collectors and design enthusiasts alike.
