A rare pair of PJ-SI-29-A “Fauteuil en Teck” lounge chairs by Pierre Jeanneret, created circa 1955 for the modernist city of Chandigarh, India. Crafted from solid teak, each chair features a low architectural frame with a braided cane seat and backrest, combining European Modernist principles with traditional Indian materials and craftsmanship. The model was originally produced for Chandigarh’s administrative and university buildings, and this pair has documented provenance from Panjab University, GCR Hostels. Each handmade chair retains the individual character and rich patina developed over decades of use. The frames have been carefully restored and revised where necessary, while the cane has been newly renewed, preserving the original appearance while ensuring continued functionality. Presented in very good vintage condition.
