The Amanta lounge chairs designed by Mario Bellini for C&B Italia in 1966 are iconic examples of Italian radical design. Executed in molded fiberglass shells with corduroy fabric upholstery, each module functions independently or can be joined to create a sectional sofa, reflecting Bellini’s vision of comfort and flexibility. The low, sculptural form and modular concept marked a significant shift in lounge seating during the late 1960s, earning the Amanta a place in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Mario Bellini, one of Italy’s most celebrated architects and designers, is renowned for his multidisciplinary influence and multiple Compasso d’Oro awards. This set of two pieces remains in good vintage condition, with two professionally repaired tears that remain slightly visible, preserving the authenticity of these highly collectible design classics.
