This exceptional set of Lido sun chairs was originally designed around 1935 by Swiss designers and brothers Battista and Gino Giudici and manufactured circa 1946 by Fratelli Giudici in Locarno for Wohnbedarf AG. Acquired directly from the first owner shortly after the war, the set represents an important moment in European modern outdoor furniture design. The chairs feature a striking and dynamic silhouette defined by the interplay of curved and straight lines, constructed from tubular steel poles galvanized on both the inside and outside to ensure durability and weather resistance. Despite their precise and architectural appearance, the chairs are lightweight, flexible, and gently bouncy in use. The armrests are wrapped in vivid orange rope, adding both comfort and a distinctive graphic accent. The removable green canvas seating allows relaxed lounging and practical maintenance. The accompanying stools date from the same mid 20th century period, though their designer and manufacturer remain unidentified. Offered in good vintage condition, all elements show signs of age consistent with careful use, as visible in the images. A rare and highly collectible set that embodies the innovation and optimism of Swiss modern design.
