This rare pair of Clam chairs by Arnold Madsen for Madsen and Schubell was designed in Copenhagen in 1944 and stands as an enduring icon of Danish Modern design. Celebrated for their organic biomorphic form, the chairs feature sculptural beechwood arms and distinctive club shaped legs that support a gently contoured seat and back, forming the silhouette of an open clam. Thoughtfully engineered for comfort, the subtly reclined back and slightly rising seat adapt naturally to the body. Fully restored and reupholstered in Skandilock curly sheepskin in the shade Sahara, the chairs combine tactile luxury with architectural elegance. Extremely rare and highly sought after, original Clam chairs are prized collector pieces that reflect the early collaboration between Arnold Madsen and master cabinetmaker Henry Schubell, marking a significant milestone in Danish design history.
