A rare and highly decorative ceramic fish sculpture designed by Aldo Londi for Bitossi Ceramiche, produced in Italy during the 1970s as part of the celebrated Rimini Blu collection. Handcrafted in glazed ceramic, the piece embodies Londi’s distinctive approach to combining expressive sculptural forms with richly textured surfaces and intense Mediterranean colour. The rounded fish is covered in a characteristic deep blue glaze with turquoise and teal tonal variations, creating a vibrant surface that changes subtly with the light. Carefully incised scale patterns and geometric detailing animate the body, highlighting the artisanal techniques that have made Rimini Blu one of the most recognisable series in post-war Italian ceramics. Playful yet sophisticated, the sculpture bridges functional decorative arts and collectible design, making it a compelling standalone object for a sideboard, bookshelf or curated ceramic collection. This uncommon example is presented in good vintage condition, retaining the expressive colour, texture and sculptural character associated with Aldo Londi’s work for Bitossi.
