An exceptionally rare and highly collectible B12 console or side table, originally designed by Marcel Breuer in 1928. One of the most elegant examples of early tubular steel furniture, the design is distinguished by its striking asymmetrical composition, with the lower shelf extending beyond the shorter upper shelf.
This particular example was manufactured in Czechoslovakia during the 1930s by Mora Moravia under Thonet license. Production by Mora Moravia ceased with the outbreak of the Second World War, making surviving examples of their tubular steel furniture extremely rare today.
An exceptionally rare B12 console or side table designed by Marcel Breuer in 1928, representing the pioneering development of tubular steel furniture within European Modernism. This example was manufactured by Mora Moravia in Czechoslovakia during the 1930s under Thonet licence and retains its original Mora Moravia trademark label. The design is defined by a chrome-plated tubular steel frame and distinctive asymmetrical composition, with the lower wooden shelf extending beyond the shorter upper tier to create a dynamic architectural silhouette. The table retains its original construction, with the wooden shelves professionally restored while preserving their period character. The original chrome frame has been carefully polished without removing its authentic aged surface. A highly collectible example of Bauhaus and early Modernist furniture, combining Breuer’s radical material experimentation with exceptional historical provenance.
