A rare Panama wall lamp designed by Wim Rietveld for Gispen during the 1950s. One of the Dutch designer's most celebrated lighting designs, the Panama perfectly reflects Rietveld's philosophy of combining industrial functionality with clean modernist aesthetics. The lamp features a white lacquered aluminium shade fitted with its original diffuser and an ingenious articulated swivel arm with multiple adjustable joints, allowing the light to be positioned with exceptional precision. This highly flexible construction makes it ideal as a reading light, task lamp or architectural wall fixture. The original red adjustment key is no longer present, although the mechanism can be easily adjusted using a standard box spanner. Designed by the son of Gerrit Rietveld, this iconic lamp represents an important chapter in Dutch Mid-Century Modern design and remains highly sought after by collectors. Presented in good vintage condition with only light wear consistent with age and use.
