This exceptional oak armchair, opus number 467, was designed between 1905 and 1906 for ’t Binnenhuis on Raadhuisstraat in Amsterdam and is attributed to the renowned Dutch designer C.J. van den Bosch. The chair features a strong yet elegant geometric construction in solid oak, reflecting the constructive design principles that defined Van den Bosch’s early work. Its sleek, sparsely decorated form is complemented by original red upholstery, adding warmth and contrast to the architectural frame. A maker’s brand mark remains visible beneath the seat, underscoring its authenticity. The chair is in good, solid condition, retaining its original character and structural integrity. As an important example of early 20th-century Dutch design, this piece bridges the transition from strict geometric modernism toward the richer vocabulary that would later influence the Amsterdam School.
