Robust mid century coffee table crafted with a solid oak base and a handmade Sell Pillarguri slate top, combining Scandinavian craftsmanship with striking natural materiality. Produced in the 1960s, the table features a warm and grounded architectural presence defined by its strong proportions and rich organic textures. The slate top is individually handmade, set within a metal frame and secured in concrete, creating a unique surface full of depth and mineral character. Quarried in the Norwegian village of Otta near the river Sell, the Sell Pillarguri stone contains iron rich minerals that naturally oxidize over time, enhancing the individuality and authenticity of each piece. The contrast between the dark textured slate and the warmth of the solid oak base creates a timeless balance between rustic strength and refined Scandinavian modernism. Presented in very good vintage condition with only light wear consistent with age and use.
