Rare Mid-Century Modern Paul Frankl / John Stuart Storage Ottoman, Footstool A playful yet refined expression of Mid-Century design, this station wagon storage bench, attributed by Paul Frankl / John Stuart Storage Ottoman for Johnson Furniture, blends functional ingenuity with signature stylistic elegance. Crafted in the United States in the 1950s, the bench features a warm rock maple frame and upholstered fabric seat that together provide both comfort and practical storage. The elongated silhouette evokes the spirited optimism of post-war design while maintaining the clarity of line and material integrity that defined the era. Its storage compartment adds utilitarian value without compromising the bench’s sculptural presence. Offered in good vintage condition, the bench retains its original materials and structural soundness with gentle signs of age that enrich its character. An appealing choice for entryways, bedrooms, or casual lounge spaces, this versatile piece brings historic design pedigree and everyday utility to curated interiors.
