An exceptionally rare LC/BD-01-A Ahmedabad console desk, designed by Balkrishna Doshi under the supervision of Le Corbusier for the Mills Owners' Association building in Ahmedabad around 1960. Crafted from solid teak, this architectural masterpiece exemplifies the bold modernist language of the Chandigarh project, combining sculptural forms with uncompromising functionality. The distinctive angled legs echo the ventilator shutters designed by Le Corbusier for his Indian buildings, while the stepped Brutalist top creates a striking visual contrast. Originally stained black for protection and durability, the desk has developed a rich authentic patina that reflects its history and craftsmanship. Produced in extremely limited numbers by the Chandigarh workshop, the LC/BD-01-A is among the rarest and most sought-after pieces of Indian Modernist design. Documented in major literature and museum collections, this console desk is a true collector's piece, equally suited as a desk or statement console in exceptional interiors.
