Striking mid century modern table lamp from the 1950s, originally attributed to Italy and in the style of Stilnovo, yet several features suggest an American origin. The harp is marked Berger and patented in the 1950s, while the original fiberglass shade is marked Designers Lamp. With its black teardrop body, perforated brass cone neck and tripod base with brass ball feet, the lamp closely recalls the atomic age designs of Majestic Lamp Co. and Modeline of California. The textured fiberglass shade with diagonal striations is fully intact and adds warm, diffused light. The mix of matte black, polished brass and organic texture captures the playful futurism of the era. Recently rewired and fitted for standard E27 bulbs. A rare and authentic statement piece for mid century collectors and retro inspired interiors.
