This impressive counter is a remarkable example of early 20th-century design, evocative of the refined interiors of grand department stores such as Parisian boutiques of the 1920s and 1930s. Rooted in the elegance of Art Deco, it combines practical functionality with a warm, decorative presence. Crafted in richly toned oak, the piece showcases a striking flame-grain pattern, enhanced over time by a deep, lustrous patina. The front is organized with four substantial drawers, each fitted with two ornamented iron handles that introduce a subtle industrial contrast. A particularly charming detail is found in the upper left drawer, which contains a smaller compartment likely intended for a cash register, complete with its original coin recess. While additional end panels suggest further storage, these are in fact decorative façades, contributing to the counter’s balanced and symmetrical appearance. The reverse side offers four additional drawers of equal capacity, making the piece as functional as it is visually engaging. A custom glass top completes the ensemble.
