Designed by Ludovico Diaz de Santillana for Venini during the 1960s, the Model 831 table lamp is an expressive example of Murano glass innovation from a pivotal period in the company’s history. The lamp features a clear glass sphere enclosing vibrant orange filigrana rods that rise from the base like flame-tipped stems, each individually applied and gently curved upward, stopping just short of the transparent upper dome. This deliberate contrast between density and openness gives the piece a strong sculptural rhythm. When illuminated, the light filters through the orange detailing, intensifying the color and casting delicate linear shadows that reveal the hand-crafted nature of the glass. Even unlit, the lamp retains a powerful object-like presence. A subtle opening at the top allows heat to escape and adds to the architectural clarity of the design. Offered in very good condition, the glass is free from chips or cracks, and the electrical components function properly. The original Venini catalogue featuring this model is included, adding important provenance. A refined and collectible example of 1960s Italian glass design.
