A rare L’Ultimatum vase created by Sem Schanzer for the L’Anverre artists’ collective during the 1990s and manufactured by Zanotta. Crafted from hand-blown crystal glass, the vase demonstrates the experimental approach to traditional glassmaking that characterizes Schanzer’s work. The glass incorporates the bullicante technique, in which controlled air bubbles are trapped within the material, creating a distinctive internal pattern that adds texture, depth and visual movement while preserving the transparency of the crystal. Sem Schanzer, also known as Sem de L’Anverre, founded the interdisciplinary Antwerp collective L’Anverre in 1986 and developed a multidisciplinary practice encompassing sculpture, glassware and installations. L’Ultimatum reflects this intersection between functional design and artistic experimentation, transforming the traditional vase into a collectible sculptural object. The piece is signed by the artist, further confirming its provenance and collectible character.
