Designed in 1969 by Jo Hammerborg for Danish lighting house Fog & Mørup, the Hydra I is an icon of Scandinavian modernism from the celebrated “White Line” collection, an edited series of white-toned designs created by leading talents of the era. Crafted in off-white lacquered aluminium with a metal socket, this pendant balances softness and precision with effortless Danish restraint.
The Hydra’s beauty lies in its considered light behavior: it gently diffuses illumination upward while directing a focused beam downward, creating an atmosphere that is both functional and warm. The interplay between opacity and subtle transparency gives the form a refined visual depth, making it equally striking in a dining space, hallway, or reading corner.
Offered in good vintage condition, with light, age-appropriate signs of wear, this piece remains clean and elegant, an enduring design statement with strong provenance and timeless versatility.
